Simba& Nala, Meet the Robinsons, Snoopy &Woodstock

So a couple of patterns that are a little easier and a little cuter

First up, Simba and Nala (come on, who doesn't love the Lion King??)
I also worked on Wilber and Lewis from Meet the Robinsons, I think Wilber came out a bit better (mostly because of Lewis' eyes)
These sort of came about because I have a Woodstock keychain on my key and decided to see what I could find, first up, Woodstock and Snoopy.  Little bit of difficulty on the eyes for both; I considered making them shaded, but it just didnt look right to me...
And a pretty simple Woodstock, because who cant love him just a little?

V Carve

First carve this year, also my first foam pumpkin and first time using the speedball, lost a tiny bit of the face, but overall I think it went well. Hope you like it!

Alien vs Predator

Alien

on both the edges are not cut closer than I would like and there are details that aren't there as a result

Doctor Who

I finally got around finishing my Dr Who pattern. mixed feelings about taking out the background... by the time it was cleaned up it would have looked funny and the tardis looked a little out of place because it wasn't there originally, so I decided to take the background out... anyway, here it is

Nightmares

So not sure what exactly to call it, but I'm kind of fond of it. Probably a bit (way) beyond my skill to carve nicely though, and there are some parts that are going to be pretty delicate. But I have seen some impressively detailed pumpkins, so perhaps one day.

Reaper

Been wicked busy, so not getting as much done on this stuff as I hoped. But with bit of procrastination time today and worked this up.

updates! yay! so I tried messing around and making a few other patterns, a lot are still in progress, but I have another reaper. The bad news, I didnt spend quite as much time cleaning up little details so its a bit messy... the good news, I think I am finally starting to get the hang of this pattern making

A Couple Templates

okay, most of these are very quickly done, and I am far from anywhere near proficient with editing stuff, where I have messed with things is entirely obvious, and I have left a lot of things unsimplified.  So try to bare with me on these.

Darth Maul (3 Color)

.

V (3 Color)

Darth Vader (3 Color)

Yoda (3 Color)
This is the pattern I did last year, I didn't really make it myself, I just added onto it.

Carvings 08-09

My 2008 carving: the Heath Ledger Joker
His nose is a little messed up because I cut too much off and then put some back in with a toothpick, and I didn't really figure out what was going on with his suit until I was done carving and lit it up. There is a bat in the corner, but it cant be seen well in this photo.

My 2009 carving: Master Yoda
This actually came out a lot better than I had expected, especially considering that I was doing it in a bit of a hurry on Halloween day. When it wasn't lit up it looked as though it had been eaten by rodents, which got it some odd looks during the day. I added a little onto the pattern at the bottom of his feet and the end of the light saber.

Howdy

If you're looking for a pretty good site to get patterns from I really suggest The Pumpkin Wizard. It has some pretty great patterns and as it gets closer to Halloween you can generally find some on the artist exchange on their Q&A board as well. If you're looking for some stuff that is a bit more challenging, Noel does great work, so I suggest looking at Fantasy Pumpkins.
